About Containers.
How do containers differ from Compute?
A container shares the host’s kernel and uses shared vCPU. A Compute VM, also called a VPS or cloud server, has its own kernel and dedicated vCPU.
What does unprivileged mean?
Root in the container is an ordinary user without rights on the host.
Which features are VM-only?
cloud-init, your own ISO and Windows Server. Choose Compute for those.
How do I log in?
Over SSH, or through the terminal in the console.
Does a container get an IPv4 address?
Every container has its own IPv6 /64. A dedicated IPv4 address costs €4.00 per month, while stock lasts. Without IPv4, services that only have IPv4, such as GitHub, are out of reach.
Can I move to a bigger plan later?
Yes, under Resize in the console. The difference by the day to the end of the month.
